1.) Through the lab portion of the course, I was able to learn several important and useful skills and techniques in biotechnology including transforming bacteria, running an SDS-PAGE and DNA gel electrophoresis, and performing PCR-SDM. 2.) Through the lecture portion of the course, I learned relevant background information in biomolecular engineering including DNA sequencing methods and how to make and purify proteins. 3.) From the course I was able to develop better critical thinking skills when it comes to engineering DNA for specific applications.
